All early career marine scientists who can contribute
to the conference topics are encouraged to apply for
an invitation from the Scientific Steering Committee
(SSC). The procedures are described
under “Abstract submission and Application
for Invitation”. Approximately 100 early
career scientists will be invited by the SSC. There
is no explicit age limit, but the conference is intended
to attract individuals with research experience ranging
from advanced stages of a Ph.D. program up to postdoctoral
researchers (with priority given to those with no
more than 5 years since obtaining a Ph.D.).
Participants must have an invitation from
the SSC to attend the conference. To apply to the SSC for an invitation, applicants
must:
pre-register for the conference
submit an abstract and a one-page curriculum
vitae (Abstract and CV in one file)
Participants will be selected according
to criteria established by the SSC. The criteria for selection
will include the relevance of the abstract to the topic
session and the scientific results described in the abstract.
In addition to an invitation from the SSC, participants
who are citizens of countries requiring a U.S. visa must
obtain a letter of invitation from the U.S. Government.
The names of successful applicants will be provided to
the U.S. State Department by the SSC. The State Department
is responsible for issuing letters of invitation to applicants
to attend this conference in the United States.
